About Us

History

We're not new upstarts. Since 1988, Miramar Advertising Group has stayed in the forefront of the creative, media and Public Relations business. That's over 20 years of delivering top quality services for clients who turn to us for eye-opening advertising and potent public relations. Every workday's a new experience for our staff in breaking through routine thinking to find innovative ways of creating instant brand recognition, developing corporate identities, increasing retail sales, and exploring marketing methods that successfully reach —even exceed— our clients' expectations. We work out of a newly-renovated, architecturally historic 100 years building in Miramar (no Hato Rey traffic), and do our job backed by a simple philosophy: to promote and advance the client's interests by applying our combined creative skills. To say the same in another way, with teamwork, we transform business by using our creative vision of success for customers who choose Miramar Advertising Group as their guide through the confusion.

Our Team

Ramón Del Valle - President

That steady hand on the helm at Miramar Communications belongs to Ramón Del Valle, founder and president since 1988, when the agency opened its doors. Calm, courteous, and unflinching when faced with day's demands, Ramón has the thoughtful air of a thinker, no surprise since he's spent years in scholarly study of various histories and ready every imaginable genre of print, from pop magazine to best-sellers. High school years took him to Pennsylvania and Louisiana, followed by a major in Journalism at Navarra University, in Pamplona where Hemingway used to write when not risking his life running the bulls. Ramón's additional academic studies included the History of the Spanish Caribbean, Medieval Hispanic History, and immersion in research on pre-Communism Russia. Abstract painting takes up much of his leisure time at home; as an art activist, Ramón joined the group that established MAC, the Museum of Contemporary Art, now flourishing in its new location at Stop 18 in Santurce. For two years, Ramón was MAC's board chairman. Cerebral activity takes a break when Ramón grabs his mountain bike every morning for runs through Old San Juan, or devotes a weekend to sailing. With his diverse interests in life, Ramón is often asked to serve on advisory councils, among them a drug offensive organization, a group promoting concepts of democracy, and the US Navy's Southern Command.

Miguel Ortiz - Creative Director

Our Creative Director, Miguel "Migue" Ortiz, leads a daredevil life. He's part of a cycling team (a risky deal both uphill and down), rides the waves of his surfboard at Rincon, and glides through the air on his skateboard, among other exploits. The panorama of nature in all its colors and shapes seen through his eyes during those passages through space adds dash and vitality to the formal studies Miguel completed in Graphic Design and Advertising. With several years in the industry, Miguel came to Miramar Group to provide visual concepts for its publications, advertising, website, TV productions, and brand identities. He's also a graduate in Business Administration, so he understands the costs involved in turning out graphics with an impact, an unbeatable combination for budget-conscious customers.

Nitza Agosto - Copy Director

Nitza Agosto, our Copy Director, could qualify as a fine art photographer if she weren't so busy creating and supervising copy for Miramar Group's endless round of brochures, corporate publications, ad campaigns, and press releases. Having earned degrees in Communications and Media Writing (both BA and MA) from Sacred Heart University, Nitza spent years speech writing for various dignitaries, then joined Miramar Group to take on its varied writing genres that include TV and radio commercials as well as creative copy linked to advertising campaigns. After that mental workout, Nitza seeks peace of mind in deep sea diving, and in the quietness of the photo developing lab.

Alberto Vincenti - Web Designer

A self-proclaimed "computer freak", Web Master Alberto Vincenti contributes to the graphic design area in addition to managing all the web related projects for Miramar.  While his degree in Graphic Design from Atlantic College prepared him so well for the former, when it comes to internet technology, Alberto strives to stay at the cutting edge of the latest web trends and standards to provide the best possible solution for Miramar's many clients.  He is also the "go-to" guy when an IT issue arises at the office. His hobbies include water sports and action photography. It's not unusual to find him at any local surfing beach on weekends swimming --- camera in hand --- looking for those elusive moments of high impact action.

Reina Ortiz - Art Director

Reina E. Ortiz Santiago, our Art Director since 2010, earned her BA in Graphic Design in 2002 from Atlantic College. She has a remarkable expertise in magazine production. Queeny, as her friends call her, loves to be connected with nature, and to discover new cultures and lifestyles. She also loves sightseeing, always with her camera in hand, as she loves photography. Queeny lives with a song and a smile on her lips and enjoys serving others. Always attentive to the textures and details in each graphic production and aware of the latest trends in advertising, Queeny approaches each new art project as a fun and exciting challenge.

Laura Molina - Media Director

The well-groomed, stylish LAURA MOLINA carries out the demanding tasks as Media Director with a calmness that comes from her 20 years in the media industry. She knows the ropes. With a degree in Business Administration from UPR, Laura joined Miramar Communications in 1994 and began managing the often intricate relationships with media personnel who are crucial to the processes involved in exposure, purchases, and contracts for clients. That requires creativity, too, but Laura's creativity comes to life in the kitchen: she's an advocate of healthy cooking and focuses on preparing artful food with flavors that keep family and friends asking for more.

Luis Gurrea - Comptroller

The Comptroller at Miramar Communications, Luis A. Gurrea, has been keeping the books for over 10 years. His career follows the example of his mother and uncle, both business owners. Luis administers the agency's budgets, payroll, tax records, expenditures, and other finance-related matters. Comptrollers can also be creative. When released from the numbers, Luis indulges in rhythmic noise: he likes '80s metal rock bands and plays the drums himself… Mike Portnoy and Nicko McBrain head his list of the world's best celebrity drummers.
